The Furnace Of Fortitude

“For Gold and Silver are tested in fire, yet truly, acceptable men are tested in the furnace of humiliation”- Sirach 2:5

Everyone knows the saying “ Be the bigger man and walk away”. As Children of God we are called to a similar but different concept. People who truly allow the Holy Spirit to dwell within them , will sustain that moment of humiliation. “ Humble your heart, and persevere. Incline your ear, and accept words of understanding. And you should not hurry away in the time of distress”.  At that moment, we are being tested and molded into becoming stronger people. I myself would genuinely have trouble understanding how that's  possible, until I had realized the solution has been in the palm of my hands from the inception. Once we allow God into our hearts by maintaining our spiritual intake daily, we will understand that the fire of humiliation is a blessing. The blessing comes when you see yourself able to endure little moments in our more day to day lives, whether that be having patience with your kids as a Father or Mother, or suppressing your pride while dealing with a difficult co-worker, or when someone is giving you truthful advice that you may not want to hear etc. These moments of testing in the furnace, will help us in all aspects of our lives. Trust that with these tests, Our Heavenly Father is uplifting our spirits.

“ For who has remained in his commandment and been abandoned? Or who has called upon him, and yet he despised him?”- Sirach 2:12
